I don't know a lot about what authors are 'supposed' to do--I just kind of do whatever works best.
I do find that when I'm NOT thinking about something (ie. my subsequent book) is when the ideas come. You're smart to be jotting them down when they come to you. Since I can't usually remember my name from one day to the next, I always have a pad of paper nearby for the same reason!
Congrats on the first book! Publication is a lot like childbirth---but only half the pain.
Any plans for your next book? Not that I recommend my recent pace, (ACK!) but I do always like to be thinking about 'what's next.' Keeping my mind busy also keeps my mind off of the fact that I live with two teenagers. Writing keeps me sane!

About Me:
Like everybody else, I juggle a multitude of projects in addition to my regular job, but I love everything that I'm doing. I'm a registered nurse and an adjunct professor of nursing. When I'm not grading papers or chasing nursing students in the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and family. I rarely cook, but love going out to dinner. Writing, and when I get the opportunity, reading a good book, are forms of relaxation for me.
I just recently signed with Xpress Yourself Publishing. I've been writing for approximately three years and my first novel, Reflections of a Quiet Storm will be released March 10, 2009. ISBN numbers are listed below. I'm a new author, so I'm gradually learning all of the interesting and intricate details about the world of publishing.
